Ready to Wear

I finally finished the shawl that I began knitting in December. I don't own blocking wires, but after knitting and blocking several shawls I am getting faster at the block out, and I enjoy it now that I've gotten used to the smell of wet wool, which I vividly remember from snowy childhood walks. Well almost...I wear a mask.

What's not to like about this pattern? I love the knit-on edging and the pattern is beautifully written. That makes me wildly happy because a well written pattern makes knitting fun and so much easier, and emphatically states that the designer, in this case, Carolyn, of Carolyn Knits really cares about her product and loves her work!

You can find my Raverly project page and a few more pics here.

Think Spring!
Heads up!
As you can see, I am thinking about spring.  And since the groundhog didn't see his shadow on February 2nd, I reckon it will happen soon. Ha! Well, officially in 6 weeks...

~ I will leave you with a tip that I read somewhere. To keep the heads on your cut tulips from drooping push a straight pin through the stem a wee bit down from the flower head; remove pin and continue until all tulips have been pierced.  Because tulips like the cold, I drop a few ice cubes into the water now and then as well.

P. S.  The envelope I bought for the draw on the  Feb. 15th just needs an address that will be chosen on that day with the help of a random number generator.  Good luck!  Click the GYB post on the sidebar for details.

Have A Happy Valentine's Day! ♥

I love that shawl! I never knew you had to block them afterwards. Good tip on the daffodils. Mine are just starting to push through the ground. I hope I can remember that tip in a month or so.

Your shawl is beautiful, you made me laugh wearing a mask when you blocked it. You took me back to my childhood days, when I was little my mother knitted socks for me and my brothers, and I was always getting my feet wet, probably jumping in puddles, so the smell was awful ! and my socks shrunk much faster than my brothers. Thanks for reminding me about pushing a pin through the stem on the tulips. I know it does work. I'm glad you liked seeing the birds on my post. They are busy at the moment gathering bits of fluff I put out to help their nests.

Gorgeous shawl. Gorgeous flowers. All the pretty Daffodils, Tulips, Jonquils and other Spring flowers will soon be popping up their pretty heads, heralding Spring in your li'l corner of the world very soon!

Tulips are such happy flowers, I need to pick up a bunch, winter is dragging on here too!

Blocking does make the shawl. Before blocking it looks like a squishy indescribable something.
Just in case since you mentioned daffodils, the pin trick is for cut tulips. It's still heads up here after almost a week!
Enjoy...

Yes, for sure, way back when everything we wore was wool, so after playing or walking we did need to be dried out quickly!
O, I do love birds. Your post was great!
Thank you!

Spring is such a lovely time of year. Renewal everywhere and "the earth laughing in flowers" to quote Emerson. What perfect description!
Thanks, Kim.

Aren't they wonderful! I have a spring corner in my living room. Every time I walk by or look that way it makes me smile.
Enjoy...

I enjoyed this cheery, colorful post. I LOVE spring flowers and will have to use your pin trick when I next have some tulips. Your shawl is really beautiful in that lovely blue yarn with its delicate color variations. Great job! and thanks for the link!

The colourful spring blooms do add a lot of cheer to the day.
Blue of course, but yes this wool does have nice variations. It's a great shawl and I enjoyed knitting your design! Thank you. And you are most welcome, Carolyn.
Enjoy the day...

We saw a big ol' fat bumble bee on the side of the house today. It's almost 60 degrees and the sun is shining. I am ready for spring. I LOVE your daffodils. Oh, and the shawl is wonderful. :)

What an excellent sign of spring! The bees must be finding something to sup on. Ah, nearly 60 degrees--how nice!
We are still under towering banks of snow, but today as I was driving hither and yon, I did notice squirrels in the trees. They likely came out to enjoy the sunshine and to look for something to eat. Next time out, I'll be armed with sunflower seeds.
Yes, daffodils are wonderful. I especially like the ones with the orange coronas, but they are rare around here.
Thanks so much, Penny.
